A mixture of Dia and Urea is prepared in which the ratio of N, P and K is 26%, 68% and 6% respectively. The ratio of N, Pand K in Dia is 20%, 70% and 10% respectively. What is the ratio of N and P in the Urea?

Solution:

(c) Let the total quantity of mixture be ‘Z’ kg
Let the total quantity of Dia mixture be 600 kg.
This 6% of K is obtained only from Dia,

K _ { U } + K _ { D } = R _ { M }

⇒

0 + { 10 }/ { 100 } × 600 = { 6 }/ { 100 } × Z

⇒ { 60× 100 }/ { 6 } = Z

⇒ Z = 1000 kg

N _ { U } + N _ { D } = N _ { M }⇒ N _ { U } + 120 = 260

⇒

N _ { U } = 260 - 120 = 140 { \kg }

and

P _ { U } + P _ { D } = P _ { M }

⇒P _ { U } + 420 = 680 ⇒ P _ { U } = 680 - 420 = 260
