The mature Polygonum type of embryo sac consist of three antipodal cells, one secondary nucleus (two polar nuclei) two synergids and an egg. The two synergids and one egg from egg apparatus towards the micropylar end of embryo sac. These 8-nucleate and 7-celled structures are all present in a single ouvle/spore. Thus, it is also known as monosporic octa nucleated.
