Greenhouse gases prevent reradiation of infra-red radiation, which is responsible for maintaining earth's temperature. As these gas prevent heat from escaping to outer space, therefore these are compared to glass panel of a greenhouse, hence, are called as greenhouse gases. These are CO2,CH4, chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), N2O (nitrous oxide) and hydrofluorocarbon (HFC).
