is x, then N is x km East and x km south of O while P is 2km south of O. So, P is x km west & 2-x km south of N. Since N is 4 km south of M, so P is x km west & 4+2-x km south of M. So, the distance between P & M is hypotenuse of right-angle triangle with sides x and 6-x. So the correct answer is “A”. Even intuitively, this has to be less than x+(6-x) as sum of two sides of a triangle is always larger than the third side.
