Solution:

Let the cost of tax free item be

₹ x

and the cost of taxable purchase be

₹ y

.
Now, according to the question,

x+y+6 \%

y=25

x+y+\;{6}/{100} y=25

But

\;{6}/{100} y=\;{30}/{100} ⇒ y=5

∴ x+5+\;{30}/{100}=25 ⇒ x=25-5.30

∴

Cost of tax fare item

=₹ 19.70
