After election to Parliament the members become entitled to certain amenities. These amenities are provided to members with a view to enable them to function effectively as members of Parliament. Broadly speaking, the amenities provided to the members related to salaries and allowances, travelling facilities, medical facilities, accommodation, telephones etc. These are governed by the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954 and the rules made there under.
