A pump can fill an empty tank in 3 hours. Because of a leakage at the bottom of the tank, it took half an hour extra time. The time taken (in hours) to drain all the water from the full tank by the leakage is

Solution:

Let the leak alone empty the filled tank in t hours.

∴3.5(1/3-1/t)=1

⇒1/t=1/3-1/3.5={0.5}/{3×3.5}=1/21

∴t=21
