If the lengths of the side and one diagonal of a rhombus are respectively 13 cm and 10 cm, then the area of the rhombus in square centimeters is

Solution:

Given AC = 10 cm. Side of the rhombus = 13cm.
We know that the diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other at 90°

In ΔCOD,

OD=√{13^2-5^2}=12

∴BD=2×12=24cm

\text "Area of rhombus"=1/2(\text "product of diagonals")

=1/2×10×24=12cm^2
