In methanol (CH3‌OH), intermolecular
hydrogen bonding exists. When H-atom is directly linked with nitrogen, oxygen or fluorine, it forms inter or intramolecular H-bond. Hence, the intermolecular H-bonding in methanol molecule must be overcome in converting liquid CH3‌OH to vapour.
