A fuse is absolutely necessary in a power circuit because the appliances installed in a power circuit draw a large amount of current as compared to the normal value of current. So, a fuse is used in the electric circuit to save the appliances and the wiring of the circuit from the abnormal current due to overloading, short circuiting etc.
