Question : 13 of 65

Marks: +1, -0
The human ear can defect continuous sounds in the frequency range from 20Hz to 20,000 Hz. Assuming that the speed of sound in air is 330ms−1 for all frequencies, calculate the wavelengths corresponding to the given extreme frequencies of the audible range.
Solution:
Given : Frequency range =20Hz to 20,000 Hz, speed of sound in air(v)=330ms−1.
We Know,
v=fλ.
∴ Case 1→330=20×λ1
λ1=33020=16.5m
Case 2→330=20,000×λ2
λ2=33020,000=0.0165m.
∴ Wavelength range is 0.0165m to 1.65m.
