Question : 2 of 27

Marks: +1, -0
How does the mobility of electrons in a conductor change, if the potential difference applied across the conductor is doubled, keeping the length and temperature of the conductor constant?
Solution:
Electron mobility is given by
u=vdE=vdVl
Here E = magnitude of electric field applied vd= drift velocity, V= p.d., l= length
So, u1V
Hence, for the constant length and temperature of the conductor, if the potential difference is doubled, the mobility will be halved.
