A convex lens of focal length is placed coaxially with a convex mirror of radius of curvature . The two are kept at apart from each other. A point object lies in front of the convex lens. Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of the image by the combination. Determine the nature and position of the image formed.
Solution:
From the lens formula, we have:
The positive sign indicates that the image is formed at the right of the lens.
The image is formed behind the mirror and acts as a virtual oject for the mirror. The convex mirror forms the image , whose distance from the mirror can be determined as:

Hence, the final virtual image is formed at a distance from the convex mirror.
