Find the distance between the parallel planes

2 x+y+2 z=8 \;\text " and "\; 4 x+2 y+4 z+5=0

Solution:

We have

2 x+y+27=8

\;\text " and, "\; 4 x+2 y+47=-5

⇒ 2 x+y+27=\;{-5}/{2}

Now,

\;\text " Dis tance "\; d=\;{{| 8+{5}/{2} |}}/{{√{(2)^2+(1)^2+(2)^2}}}

=\;{\;{21}/{2}}/{{√{3}}}=\;{21}/{2 × 3}=\;{7}/{2}

Hence, the dis tan ce between two given lines are
