Question : 24 of 29

Marks: +1, -0
Using matrices, solve the following system of equations:
2x – 3y + 5 = 11
3x + 2y – 4z = -5
x + y – 2z= -3
Solution:
2x – 3y + 5 = 11
3x + 2y – 4z = -5
x + y – 2z= -3
System of equations can be written as AX = B
Where, A = [235324112]
X = [xyz] , B = [1153]
A = [235324112]
|A| = 2(- 4 + 4) + 3 ( - 6 + 4) + 5 (3 - 2)
|A| = - 6 + 5 = - 1 ≠ 0
A1 exists and system of equations has a unique solution
A1 = 1|A| (adj A)
adj A = [01229231513]
A1 = 1|A|[01229231513]
= [01229231513]
X = A1B = [01229231513] [1153]
X = [5+62245+691125+39] = [123]
So x = 1 , y = 2 , z = 3
