Amylose is a long unbranced chain of $\mathit{\alpha }$-D-glucose units held by ${\mathrm{C}}_1-{\mathrm{C}}_4$ glycosidic linkage whereas amylopectin is a branched chain polymer of $\mathit{\alpha }$-Dglucose units, units in which chain is formed by ${\mathrm{C}}_1-{\mathrm{C}}_6$ glycosidic linkage while branching occurs by ${\mathrm{C}}_1-{\mathrm{C}}_6$ glycosidic linkage.
