respectively. Which one of the two is most likely to show addition reaction? Justify your answer. Also give the chemical equation to explain the process of addition reaction in this case.

Solution:

{\C}_3 {\H}_6

is propene i.e., unsaturated hydrocarbon.

{\C}_4 {\H}_{10}

is butane i.e., saturated hydrocarbon. Thus propene being unsaturated shows addition reaction.

{\CH}_3- {\CH}= {\CH}_2+ {\Cl}_2 → {{\CH}_3 {\CH}}↙{|↙{\Cl}}- {\CH}_2 {\Cl}
