Name the type of mirrors used in the design of solar furnaces. Explain how high temperature is achieved by this device.
Solution:
Concave mirror. They are the only type of mirror that reflects light towards a single focal point. When a solar furnace is placed at the focus of a large concave mirror called reflectors, it focuses a parallel beam of light coming from the sun on the furnace.
